First time shipment to Amazon

QuestionsFirst time shipment to Amazon
Dan Leo asked 7 months ago

I am going to start Amazon FBA. I have found a supplier for the selected product. If everything goes fine, items will be shipped to Amazon US next month. Now here comes the confusing part! I live outside of US, don’t have any LLC or US bank account. I also don’t own any company in my home country! I have a few questions regarding the shipment procedure.

  1. As a foreign individual, without owning a company, can I import products to US? As far I can understand, I’ll be the importer of record and consignee. In both cases, I’ll use my non-US resident address. I’ll also need US custom assigned importer number, right?
  2. I have read ultimate consignee must be an US company/ person with EIN number. Is it possible to assign Amazon warehouse address with their EIN number as the ultimate consignee?
  3. For freight forwarding, do you recommend Freightos? Do they handle all the custom works for the customers?

Please correct me if I’m wrong. I will be grateful to you.

Hi mate,
I don’t live in the US either and I don’t have a US company either. However, since you are starting an Amazon business it’s probably smart to register a business in your country.
I also use the AMZ warehouse as the consignee. You don’t need an EIN number.
Yes I recommend Freightos, they will help you with all this kinda stuff.
Good luck!
